Warm and very humid weather will continue through Wed and then return
by the weekend. Highs and lows are running 15-20 degrees above average
over the area. AM Fort Worth sounding indicated a PWS of 1.65in which
appears to be a record high PWS reading for the month of Jan (about
300% above normal).
Shallow cold front over N TX wil slowly push southward into the region
sometime Wed. Models are in fair agreement with a frontal passage off
the coast Wed PM with north surface winds and near normal temps.
behind the boundary. S and SSW flow prevails above the front, so
clouds and increasing rain chances can be expected into Friday. We
will have to see how this all comes together as the models are pushing
for high rain chances and amounts, however Gulf ridging may prevent
this.
Warm front moves back north late Friday and will bring the warm and
muggy air back into the region.
Extended:
Southern stream sotrm system heads into the S Plains next week with a
great deal of weather. Will be closely watching a very cold arctic air
mass building over Canada by the end of next week. Models continue to
hint that this air mass may want to come southward around the mid to
late part of the month.
