For the snow lovers and the kids that have not seen snow since 1989 it appears the wait will continue.

Arctic high pressure continues to build into the area and will be reinforced later tonight. Dewpoints in the low teens and single digits will spread into the area from the north. Upper level short wave over Mexico will induce isentropic lifting over the area tonight through Friday night. Clouds and moisture will increase, but mainly above 6000ft. Very dry air below 6000ft to the surface with evaporate much of what falls. If we could somehow saturate the lower levels then we could get all kinds of precip, but the chances of that happening are now less than 20%.

Cold core low comes across Friday night and Saturday AM and we may see some flurries with that as any moisture is squeezed out.

Hard freeze both tonight and Friday night with temps only recovering to near 35 on Friday. Such an extended period below freezing will cause some problems with pipes and even sheltered and covered plants. We have not seen such an extended period of freezing temps since the brutal cold of 1989, but temps will be several degrees warmer than the all time record low of 7 back then.

For those that like probabilities, the chance for snow is now at 20% and I suppose if you stare at the sky long enough you may see a flurry or two.

Extended: temps back into the 70's by Tuesday as the arctic high is dislodged and sent to the east coast.

In Mont Belvieu, Texas (it's right next to Baytown) they had a light snow this morning around 10 am. I got 2 calls from family and a friend telling me it was snowing! I still believe it will snow!!!
