Flood Event underway across SE TX.
I just got back from Wharton and Jackson counties and folks it is really bad. This is there Allison down there. Everything is under water. Many pictures will be coming shortly.
Since 600pm Saturday 16-19 inches of rain has fallen over Jackson and Wharton counties with widespread 2-4 inch amounts along and west of a line from Galveston to Katy to Hempstead.
A stalled frontal boundary continues to lay along a line from Clear Lake to Sugarland to Wharton and is the main focus for thunderstorm development. Forecast models have done an extremely poor job with handling this boundary today and insist that it will move northward. However, deep convection north of the boundary continues to hold it stationary and is preventing it from moving. Water vapor imagery currently shows additional short wave energy crossing the Rio Grande and heading for SE TX. This will re-fire storms along this boundary this evening and tonight with flooding rain likely.
Additional rainfall amounts of 2-4 inches with isolated 4-8 inches amounts will be possible along and north of this boundary tonight. with widespread 1-2 inch amounts over the rest of the area.
We are super-saturated and even token rainfall of .10 of an inch is causing flooding problems.
Watches and Warnings:
Flash Flood Warning for Jackson, Wharton, and Colorado counties
Flash Flood Watch for all of SE TX through 430am Monday
River Flood Watch for all SE TX watersheds through Wednesday
River Flood Warnings:
Sandy Creek
West Mustang Creek
Mustang Creek
Tres Palacios River
Luce Bayou
San Bernard River
Rivers above bankfull:
Brazos River
Colorado River

Flooding conditions will continue to worsen along mainstream rivers as run-off reaches those channels. Widespread flooding will continue over Wharton and Jackson counties through tonight.
