SPC meso discussion issued. Area being monitored for possible Tornado
Watch
Breaks in the overcast over our southwest counties into western Harris
have resulted in air mass destabilization early this morning. AM
soundings show increasing vertical shear with the approach of a strong
short wave near Del Rio. Shear and helecity values are being increased
along a weak warm frontal boundary from Galveston to Houston to
College Station. Doppler radar is increasingly showing storm rotation
within the lowest 1-2 thousand feet and several warnings have been
issued.
Strong upper air forcing will be overspreading the sunny areas shortly
resulting in strong to severe thunderstorm development. High
precipitation supercells will be possible with rain wrapped tornadoes.
