Strong cold front now dropping through the extreme NW TX panhandle
where Dalhart is 47 with N winds gusting to 50mph. Strong front will
reach SE TX by 1000am Thursday and be into Harris County around noon.
There will be a slight chance of showers along the front Thursday.

Strong cold air advection and clouds will make it much colder on
Friday as highs struggle to get out of the 50's. Coastal trough sets
up early Saturday along the lower TX coast and clouds should thicken
and lower and then produce light rain and fog by Sunday.

Big changes come late Sunday through next Thurs. as a powerhouse of a
system takes dead aim at TX. Powerful upper level cut off low drops
deep into Mexico and then slowly ejects ENE across SC TX early to mid
next week. Surface warm front moves northward Monday with heavy rain
and thunderstorms along and north of the front in the retreating cold
air. Warm sector over takes the entire region by late Monday. Given
the intensity of the system, the slow movement, and the
impressive "expected" jet stream dynamics a signifcant weather event
can be expected from Sunday well into next week. The GFS shows a
strong gale center moving from NE Mexico up the TX coast and then into
the Mississippi Valley with the potential for severe weather and
flooding rains south of the warm front and heavy snow north of the
surface low track.

Note: Model forecast have been all over the place with timing so rain
will be possible at any time Saturday through next Thursday with cold
temps. early and then warming after Monday. A very complicated
forecast indeed.
