Any idea when our first day with highs in the 60s or so will be here? I'm ready! I hope we have a really cold winter this year. Any projections about our winter?

I have heard some old-timers saying that the signs are showing up for a cold winter. You know the old wives tales that have animals with thicker furs, the way squirrels and etc are coming out and getting pecans and food sooner. Most of all - all the tropical activity....are they right? I have not idea. But I'm with you BaytownWeatherWatcher - I want some COLD weather.

The squirrels in my yard are burying pecans I noticed today. And the pecans aren't even ripe yet, but the squirrels are up in the trees getting them and dropping them then burying them. We are overdue for a really cold winter. Also, my long-haired outside cat's coat has gotten very thick. She looks huge from the fur. I hope we are in for a cold, cold winter and a very chilly fall!

I now hate you guys for getting my hopes up... lol

ANY sort of winter would be fine with me -- I think I lit my fireplace once last year. :(

Well I not sure I want cold weather, again if you have not heard me say, If it is going to be cold, I want to see white stuff on the ground. It not that I dont like cold weather, I can never get warm, I dont like being cold. I think 70 degree weather would be fine all year long.

Well this weekend temps during the day will be in the lower 80's and at night in the mid 50's. This is a start to the cooler temps. Let's hope I can turn the A/C and enjoy the cool nights.

Read on the KHOU site from Dan Meador that the weekend after this - there is even a colder cold front pushing down - maybe that will be our real first temperature drop for the Fall season.

Let's all keep our fingers crossed. Bring on the cold-fronts.

It got down to 59º here last night and it felt like it! When I took the dogs out my legs were chilly and the grass was even chillier. I loved it! Ready for even colder temps now...BRING IT ON! :cold:

maybe jeff or don can answer this one, but now we here in b'ham dont want it to get to cold, without that white stuff on the ground. The nights have been great in the 60's so that is cold enough for me. Hey glad to see you posting. kim

I dont like the cold but ticka that is what i wear too. If they would only allow me to wear sweats and p.j. everywhere, anytime, I would live in them, now that's a slice of heaven.

Well stormy you may see some cool temps they are calling for the low here after the second cold front next week to be anywhere from 45 to 50. Now mind you that is for locations lower in elevation than me so i would say anywhere from 43 to 48 for me. Man now that is cool will be nice as long as it is not windy

Some Coldfront - temperature is 92 degrees right now. I would say that's above average and no way this front made it through. I think it washed out in East Texas and that's why we didn't get anything except a poof or two of north wind.
