Ticka and I decided this morning to create a forum for Ivan posts only. Our previous policy to keep all posts regarding ANY storm in one thread would be impossible to enforce given the impact of Ivan. There are 2 threads in the new forum which will be restricted. The first will be the NHC thread, which is where the only posting will be any information from NHC and which only admins and mods should post in. The second will be a special thread created for Jeff, our site meteorologist, which should be ONLY be used for posting questions to Jeff and for Jeff to post his updates to. Please remember that Jeff DOES have a full time job and will respond as his time allots. We have locked down the tropical forum until after Ivan is over.

Hey StingRay why would you lock down the tropical forum? I'm only asking this question because we may a depression form later today or tonight. Read for yourself 11am mon 9/13. So does this mean we can't post about the depression if it forms? just curious.
A vigorous tropical wave...accompanied by a broad surface low pressure area...is centered about 175 miles east-southeast of Guadeloupe in the Leeward Islands. This system has continued to become better organized...and a tropical depression could form later today or tonight. The system is moving west-northwestward at about 10 mph and it will bring locally heavy rains and gusty winds to the much of the Leeward Islands today and tomorrow. Interests in Leeward Islands...Puerto Rico...the Virgin Islands...and the northeastern Caribbean Sea...should closely monitor the progress of this weather system over the next couple of days.
