On the early morning of Aug. 24th, 1992, powerful Hurricane Andrew made landfall along the southeastern Florida coast, near Homestead. The hurricane produced a wind gust to 164 mph and produced over $20 billion in damage. Much of the Homestead, Fla., area was devastated. The hurricane led to the deaths of 65 people.


Hurricane Andrew made landfall in South Florida in the early morning hours of Aug. 24, 1992, bringing with it billions of dollars of damages and ushering in a new era of building codes.

Today is also the 5th anniversary of Katrina (first developed in the atlantic)

I know one thing for sure - it doesn't seem like 5 years ago we dealt with Katrina and the mass evacuation of Rita. How time flies.
