I agree InSeabrook - this is a monster of a hurricane with 160 mph winds. This storm is going to do what he wants to do. You can never go wrong with getting prepared early. I know we need a chainsaw - that might be a purchase we make this weekend.

I wouldn't do it Seabrook, but that's your decision. Like you said, you can always have it for future use. Another argument might be that hopefully all the major homecenter retailers will be shipping MASS QUANTITIES of their supplies to Florida and I would hate to take away from someone who needs it. I wonder if Home Depot and Lowe's actually do that? Start shifting their inventory to areas in need.....remember the gas shortage Florida went through with Frances?

Stingray - I heard on the news this morning that they are still having the shortages in Florida - like in WPB and areas like that. All I have to say is they better get gas to those folks so they can evacuate.
I'm not sure if they take inventory from stores and ship it - but I know the distrubution centers all over the Southern USA can route all there inventory to a particular area. That's the key. But right now the problem is getting the trucks down there to deliver the goods. I am still reading reports that gasoline is still hard to get in some of the aresa. Looking at the NHC track - it has taken it from a direct landfall over Florida to an East Coast GOM - but the track hasn't made landfall yet - so that will be the key to when and where landfall will be? Pahandle or Alabama or even Mississippi?

Just saw the update on TWC and they made a very good point - the error of margin on the CONE path is over 150+ mile range. Ivan could take the middle road - go to the far right or even go the far left. Its just too earlier to know what he's doing. So folks - remember if you are in the cone area - please prepare.

I just talk to my brother in south Florida and his wife works for wally world. Since France they have not recieved any food shipments. they store was cleaned out before the storm and now they dont expect any shipment till they know what Ivan is doing. Most other stores have very little that u can buy. As far as wood and such not much in that department either. people r already gasing up and from what i experienced gas was hard to find. I dont know what other places in fla r like yetbut calling around to everybody. this is sad, i told them i would run food to them. does this mean i will chasing another hurricane. I hope not.
