Had to drive my dad and mom into Houston so he could take a sleep apnea test overnight. It was pouring all the way into Houston and back home. The ditches and yards are covered in water. This is suppose to go on all night - we might wake up to flooding in the Houston area.
Stay safe Lynndy. That lightning can get bad...hope ya'll don't get any flooding.

It still storming really bad here right now...we're under the red on radar...the five main networks on our cable went out because of the lightning...
Thankfully our place is on an incline so any water runs down and into the lake...so we won't flood..
But geesh we are getting hammered up here tonight!

We had bad rain for most of the day here in Spring as well! My SIRE classes got canceled just as I left the driveway to go there... not 20 minutes before I had called them to check and they said it was clear and sunny over there (close to I-45 and 1960) so I had to laugh when they called and said "you were right, it's storming here now"! We even got a some small hail but it didn't last long. Although I'm going to have to drain our pool some tomorrow, it's almost overflowing now!

Its now 2:52 a.m. and we are getting hammered here in Mont Belvieu. It started about one hour ago thunder/lightning and torrential rains. Power blinked so I have to reset the alarm clock - guess my battery in it is dead.
From Dan Meador over at KHOU he said that this could continue until Friday - the rains? Not sure what he means by that but we are flooded right now. I have a lake in my front and back yard.

It has finally, FINALLY, stopped here...it has been raining/storming here steady since around 4:30 this afternoon...I'm sure the yard is a mud hole...
I really hope he didn't mean it's going to rain until Friday...cause today was more then enough up here...
Stay safe!!!

It finally slowed down around 6 a.m. when I left for work. Looks like the rains moved offshore - but I keep hearing we have 40% chance today and another 50% chance tonight.

Latest email from Jeff Lindner:
Active overnight as large squall line crossed the region with flooding rains.
Squall line is now located over the coastal waters and pushing slowly southward…activity inland is weakening with time as upper support pulls off to the NE and strong low level convergence shifts to leading edge of the squall line over the Gulf. Should see a break in the rainfall for the rest of the day and into tonight. Rainfall over the last 24 hours has averaged 6-8 inches over SW and C Montgomery County and 2-4 inches in many other locations resulting in significant rises on area watersheds…see Hyrdo section below.
Tonight:
Break in the cloud deck are already developing and it would appear the moist air mass is not being replace by dry air as thought yesterday. Next potent short wave is noted in water vapor over N MX this morning heading toward SC and SE TX. Models prog this system to arrive after midnight with renewed development of thunderstorms over the coastal bend and SE TX. Feel main threat will be along and S of I-10. Will review this with incoming 12Z data to try and determine where/if excessive rainfall will redevelop over areas already hard hit.
Thursday:
Another break Thursday morning followed by another round Thursday night. Severe threat may be higher Thursday night as cold mid level temps. overspread the region leading to hail production.
Friday into the weekend:
Strong cold front still slated for late Friday with strong cold air advection all day Saturday. Will temper highs in the low to mid 60’s under strong NW winds. Lows in the mid to upper 30’s now look reasonable given the wet grounds preventing maximum cooling.
Hydro:
Flood Warning for Spring Creek and the W fork of the San Jacinto River. Minor flooding is forecast along both watersheds from the overnight rains. New RFC forecast will be out later this morning and increase to moderate flooding may be need for the W fork of the San Jacinto River based on current hydrograph rises at Porter. Flood Warning also in effect for Peach Creek in SE Montgomery Counties…creek has risen above flood stage this morning.
Luce Bayou, Willow Creek, Little Cypress Creek, Garners Bayou, Halls Bayou, Buffalo Bayou, and lower White Oak Bayou are elevated along with the San Bernard River at Sweeny.
Additional river flood warnings may be required today as run-off is realized into watersheds and responses are noted….especially to upper headwaters of the San Bernard River in Austin County.
With grounds now fully saturated additional rainfall tonight will run-off into area creeks, bayous, and rivers resulting in additional rises or prolonged recessions.

We had a bad cell hit here in Spring around 12:30 this morning... pretty good sized hail that was hitting our windows so I jumped out of bed and ran outside in my nightgown and got my Tahoe pulled into the garage! Back in 85 when we were living in Cypress, we had 2 tornadoes that tore up our subdivision and Hooks airport and brought with it Golf ball size hail that dented the hayel outta our new car at the time.... needless to say I checked the Tahoe this morning and I could see some tiny chinks in the paint but not many so it wasn't that bad this time, thank God!
