Latest email from Jeff Lindner regarding the cold front being here by Thursday A.M.
Strong cold front blasting SE through NW TX. Temps. falling into the 40’s and 50’s behind the front with NW winds gusting to 40mph across the big country this morning.

Locally, incoming Gulf inverted wave is advancing moisture and streamer showers toward the upper TX coast. In fact storms are getting a little robust SE of Port O Connor this morning moving northward. As moisture increases today…expect to see these shower move inland with the greatest coverage SW of a line from Surfside to Columbus.

Tonight strong front will arrive into the region with good low level convergence. While upper support is well to the north, surface convergence and pooling moisture should break the mid level inversion and allow for a broken line of thunderstorms to develop. Severe threat is low given weak dynamics although a few storms may be strong.

Front will sweep the area between 600pm (NW) and 100am (SE). Gusty NW winds of 15-25mph will onset behind the front as cold air advection regime becomes established. This will be the first gusty winds post Ike and dead hanging tree limbs may break loose. Temps. will fall into the mid to upper 50’s.

Clouds clear out early Thursday with cold air advection continuing. Highs will struggle to reach the mid 60’s even under sunny skies. NW winds will howl along the coast with gale force gust in the offshore waters as the cold air spreads across the warm Gulf of Mexico.

Coldest morning Friday under clear skies and light winds…lows falling into the mid to upper 40’s most areas…near 50 along the coast. May be just as cold Saturday AM. Slight warm up in highs Saturday and Sunday before next front crosses the region Monday. This front will not be as strong, but will slow the warming trend next week.

Far range extended shows large scale storm system coming from the west late next week

I know when I checked the early forecast for next weekend (10/31-11/2) for the races at Texas Motor Speedway it made me re-think my wardrobe selection. Forecast is holding pretty steady for windy lows in the 30's and highs in the 50's. Bring it on - just not while I'm at the track.

This better not knock down the limbs that are broken and hanging on by threads over the house tonight. Some of them look pretty big.
