Well folks its been 3 years since 2005 season (dare we call it the year of many hurricanes). Have you changed anything about your preparations for the season since 2005?

I know I have - for the last two years I have purchased supplies in general - batteries, water, can goods, paper supplies and kept them on hand. When a storm gets in the GOM - I know have a checklist of stuff to start doing at certain time intervals. (maybe I over do it) but it keeps me organized and from freaking out. I did this during Hurricane Rita and I don't ever want to be in that position again in my life.

Making this post so we can help each other in preparations so when June 1st arrives we will be prepared.

I'll post when I get home tonight - some of my checklists - they are on my home computers.

I'll be interested to see your checklist ticka. I am a checklist junkie. But I'd be very interested in the one you have on when to start stuff if there is a storm in the gulf. I have a list of things to get done, but not a time line. Can't wait to see what you've got. Especially since I've heard several comparisons between this year and the dreaded 2005.

Before a storm is on the horizon, scan all your important info and stuff like family photos onto a jumpdrive, external harddrive, or burn onto a cd. That way if anything happens to your hard copies, you'll have a backup.

And/or make sure you update that information if you did it last year. Thanks for the reminder BWW.

And if you've made any "major" purchases since you last update your insurance inventory (written, videoed or whatever) make sure to get that photographed, videoed, serial numbers listed , etc.
