I know it has been hashed over forever, and we could tell stories and write an awesome book, but when I got back home after me and my 6 children's three day trip through literally chaos, to find my clock on my microwave wasn't even blinking, meaning the lights had not even flickered, I became INSTANTLY converted to preparedness for weather issues!

I won't bore you with the details, but you all well know, it was such a wake-up call to ALL of us that in the long run has become such a blessing! We may not can predict everything that can and will happen, but no more 'sleeping' though stuff and just waiting till the last minute! Forget the 'let the chips fall were they may stuff'...we are going to keep a little maintenance around our home for preps on this kinda thing!

Love this website and appreciate knowing that we may have a way to keep in touch in the event something would ever happen to us directly!

Jean - that's why I created this message board. For folks like us to have a place to find information and ask questions. We can only learn from our experiences aka Rita evacuation. I have sworn that I will be more prepared if and when the time comes.

If Dean is a threat to SE texas area - there are several of us that exchange numbers and keep in touch - also if you hear information - we can have someone post it here.

Yes, this is a great place to be especially with a potential hurricane strike in our area. There's a connection here.
