Alot of members here have done great things - Give yourself a pat on the back.

Ok, I'll brag a little. We started a hurricane committee here at my office. It made up of the fire wardens of which I'm one. We put together a book for preparing at home and the office with lots of check lists. And presented all of this at a staff meeting yesterday. It was well received for the most part. A few with the exceptions of I live on the north side of town I'll never be affected.

A couple of attorneys saw the book and wanted one. So now they are going to get the book and may get a similar presentation next week. A couple of people that live in Galveston Co. said that they were inspired enough that contacted their insurance agent have arranged for flood insurance and they are going to start a hurricane box and begin taking a photo inventory of the contents of their homes this weekend. All of us on the committee are doing a happy dance that even a couple of people have taken the message to heart.

Ok, I have to brag a little again. Sorry, I know pride isn't a good thing, but I am really proud of what we put together for the office.

We just had our monthly staff meeting and handed out the bound color copies of our office hurricane prep books. I am really excited that the presentation we put on actually inspired people to go out and start getting things for a hurricane kit! A few more have applied for flood insurance. And one girl sat her husband down and planned their "family" hurricane plan!

And more of the attorneys up here have asked for the books and want to know if they are going to get a presentation so they will know what they should do. Big deal since some are the same ones who had me working hours after I'd been under a mandatory evac order during Rita.

Awesome TSD - putting together a manual like that isn't easy and getting up and giving a presentation. You must of made an impression because they are taking action. Kudo's! I would love to see your manual.

Ditto what Patricia said -- I'd love to see your manual too! Great job on putting all that together, and giving some people there some important stuff to think about!!

I'll see if I can figure out how to do that so ya'll can see it.

Actually the manual is a compilation of the information that we've all gotten at hurricane prep meetings, plus some specific stuff on what we need to do at the office. Including a list of employees who are in the specific mandatory evacuation areas. So they will know who has legit call to leave ASAP I was really lucky to have a secretary on the committee who just moved here from North Carolina. She's a weather geek too.

Robin and I figured that all this would basically fall on deaf ears. But we have both been very surprised and pleased by the response. And thrilled that people have actually taken some pro-active steps to prepare. :yay:
