active system in the Atlantic - how often does the NHC publich the advisories? Hopefully with this post - I can refer back to it and not forget.

A full advisory package (with a new forecast) is issued every 6 hours. When watches or warnings are in effect (as they are now), intermediate advisories are issued in between the regular advisories. So, advisory 1 was issued at 5 pm, advisory 2 will be at 11 pm, but in between we have intermediate advisory 1a at 8 pm.

When a storm is within range of landbased radar and has a good radar presentation, intermediate advisories are issued every 2 hours, rather than every three.
