at the Houston/Galveston Hurricane workshop last night. Dr. Ed Rappaport did a review of 2004 and what is possible in 2005. From each of the speakers last night each said that we are now in an active era of tropical activity.

Also, they did show where 4 hurricanes hit in Texas - it was back in 1886 - just like Florida.

Two of the hurricanes that made U.S. landfall in 1886 (Hurricane #5 and Hurricane #10) were major hurricanes at landfall. Hurricane #5, which made landfall in central Texas, was a Category 4 hurricane.
