Have you ever experienced airsickness while flying on the hurricane hunter flights?
I was just wandering..I've never flown in a large plane.

When I was still doing that sort of thing, I would sometimes feel sick, even real sick, although I never threw up in 17 years of flying. My research, however, did not require me to go on the roughest low-level flights. Most of my hurricane penetrations were at 10000 ft and above - not a picnic by any means but not as bad as going in at 1500 ft!
For many years I would wear the Transderm Scop patch, which is an anti-motion sickness medication delivered through the skin. It worked very well for me, but was taken off the market for a few years. During that period I had to use Dramamine or similar drug, which was not very effective for me.
I'm glad I'm not doing the flying any more. About a year after I changed jobs and moved to NHC, I had occasion to visit the aircraft facility. When I walked onto the P-3 aircraft, I took a whiff of the air and immediately felt queasy. I knew immediately I had made the right decision to go from research into forecasting!
