What made you decide a career in Meterology?

My question is what was the deciding factor for you to major in meterology and pursue it as a career?

I grew up in Miami. My mother liked to tell me how I asked her to explain latitude and longitude to me when I was 4 so I could track hurricanes. Then we had Cleo and Betsy when I was about 6, and they made quite an impression. I pretty much always had an interest in weather from that point on.

Growing up my two main interests were meteorology and astronomy. The job prospects seemed better in weather and that's where I ended up.
